We get a version of the same call almost every week. Someone at Bishop Ranch needs to host a group. Sometimes it's a client lunch on a Wednesday. Sometimes it's a team dinner to close out the quarter. Sometimes it's a full company buyout for a holiday celebration. The details change, but the ask is always the same: we need a place that can handle our group, work with our budget, and make us look like we actually put thought into this.

That's the reason KHAKI built a dedicated corporate dining program. Not because we sat in a boardroom and decided it sounded profitable, but because Bishop Ranch professionals kept asking for it. More than 30,000 people work within walking distance of our front door at City Center Bishop Ranch. Once they eat here on a regular night, the next question is usually: can you do this for my team?

So here's an honest breakdown of how corporate dining works at KHAKI, what it covers for both lunch and dinner, how far ahead you need to plan, and why the format keeps bringing companies back.

Corporate Lunch at KHAKI: The Overlooked Option That Works Better Than You'd Expect

Most people think of corporate dining as an evening thing. But some of the best events we host happen between noon and 2 PM.

KHAKI serves lunch Wednesday through Saturday, and the midday format has a few advantages that office managers at Bishop Ranch have picked up on. Your team doesn't lose an evening. The restaurant is quieter, so conversation flows easier. And the prix fixe lunch menu runs at a lower price point than dinner, which matters when you're working with a departmental budget rather than an executive entertainment account.

A typical corporate lunch at KHAKI runs 90 minutes. The kitchen sends out shared starters, family-style mains, and a dessert course. Your group gets the same caliber food that Chef Pujan Sarkar builds for the evening service, but in a format that fits inside a workday. Teams walk back to the office by 2 PM, fed and actually energized rather than sluggish from a heavy catered sandwich tray in a conference room.

We've hosted client lunches, board meetings, investor presentations (yes, people present between courses), new hire welcome lunches, and quarterly team gatherings during the midday slot. The semi-private dining room works especially well for lunch because the main dining room is less crowded, which gives your group a genuinely quiet, focused space.

Corporate Dinner at KHAKI: When the Evening Calls for Something Memorable

Evening corporate dining at KHAKI San Ramon is where the full experience opens up. The bar is running, the lighting shifts, the patio comes alive, and the energy in the restaurant creates a backdrop that a lunchtime event can't quite replicate.

Dinner is the right call for client entertaining, milestone celebrations, holiday parties, farewell toasts, and corporate dinners with clients, and any event where you want people to relax and settle in for the night. The tasting menu runs longer at dinner, typically four courses plus the bar program, and Chef Pujan Sarkar's seasonal dishes hit differently when your guests aren't watching the clock.

About 30 to 40 percent of guests at our corporate dinners choose non-alcoholic options, so we treat mocktails as real drinks. The mango lassi mocktail and the tamarind spritz both get reordered more than most cocktails on the list. For the rest, the bar runs Indian gin cocktails, a saffron lemon drop, the Pushpa Aunty (panch phoron with tequila and grapefruit), and a solid wine and beer selection.

Evening events also give you access to the outdoor patio for a cocktail reception before dinner, which works beautifully during the warmer months when San Ramon evenings are consistently pleasant.

Three Ways to Book Corporate Dining at KHAKI

We don't run a generic banquet in San Ramon operation. KHAKI is a working restaurant with three private dining configurations, and the right one depends on your headcount and the feel you're going for.

Our semi-private dining room handles 14 to 30 guests. You get a dedicated server, a customized prix fixe menu, and enough separation from the main room that your VP can give a toast without competing with background noise. This is the most popular format for Bishop Ranch teams booking quarterly lunches, client meals, and small celebrations.

Reserved restaurant sections handle 40 to 75 guests. You're still inside KHAKI's main dining space, but with a designated area and coordinated service. This works well for department-wide events, product launch celebrations, and mid-size company gatherings where you want energy and atmosphere.

A full restaurant buyout accommodates up to 125 guests. Your company gets the entire venue: the dining room, the bar, the patio, everything. We've hosted company holiday parties, annual kickoffs, and client appreciation events this way. For that evening or afternoon, KHAKI becomes your private space.

Why the Menu Does More Work Than You Think at a Corporate Meal

Here's something most organizers overlook: the food is doing a job at a corporate event. It's supposed to make your guests feel taken care of, start conversations, and signal that someone put thought into the details. A predictable catered lunch does one of those things. A tasting menu built for your group does all three.

Chefs Sujan and Pujan Sarkar trained in Kolkata and London. Their Michelin-starred work at Indienne in Chicago shapes everything they cook here. But this isn't abstract fine dining. The food is rooted in regional Indian traditions, built with California's seasonal produce, and designed for sharing. Ragda pani puri, cauliflower koliwada, the jackfruit cutlet that Diablo Magazine highlighted, butter chicken that consistently wins over first-timers, coconut curry roast gobi for vegetarian guests. It all comes to the table family style, which does something genuinely useful at a corporate meal: it gets people passing plates and talking instead of sitting in silence.

Dietary restrictions don't create awkward moments here. Indian cuisine has centuries of plant-based cooking built into its DNA. Vegetarian and vegan guests eat actual dishes from the regular menu, not a sad side salad. Gluten-free, halal, and nut-free modifications are handled daily without drama.

Why Indian Cuisine Works Unusually Well for Business Dining

Indian food was built around communal eating. Dishes come to the center, people serve themselves, conversations happen naturally. Compare that to a plated steak lunch where everyone stares at their own plate. The shared format breaks the ice faster than any team-building exercise your HR department has planned.

It also solves the dietary restriction problem that plagues every corporate event. Every group has at least one vegetarian, one person avoiding gluten, and someone who keeps halal. At most restaurants, that means three different menus and a stressed-out server. At KHAKI, those needs exist naturally within the cuisine. One menu covers everyone.

And then there's the novelty factor. Most corporate meals happen at steakhouses or Italian restaurants. Nothing wrong with either, but your team has been to that lunch before. A modern Indian tasting menu gives your corporate event a personality. People talk about it. They remember it. That matters if the whole point was to make your team or client feel like you put genuine thought into the occasion.

Who Books Corporate Dining at KHAKI

Tech and biotech companies at Bishop Ranch book the most frequently. They host quarterly team lunches for 15 to 25 people, rotating through City Center restaurants, and they keep coming back to KHAKI because the menu changes seasonally and every dietary need gets handled without extra coordination.

Financial services and consulting firms use us for client entertaining. The semi-private room gives them enough privacy for business conversation, and the tasting menu becomes a talking point rather than background noise. When you're hosting a client from out of town, serving them regional Indian food they haven't experienced before makes a stronger impression than another filet mignon.

HR and people ops teams book milestone events: promotions, welcome lunches, farewell gatherings, and holiday parties. These are the events where the cocktail program gets the most attention, because the vibe is celebratory rather than buttoned-up.

Common thread across all of them: these are San Ramon businesses who realized they don't need to drive to San Francisco for a corporate meal that actually impresses people.

The Space Your Guests Walk Into

KHAKI's interior was designed by Curryfwd, a Kolkata-based studio. It pulls from 1960s and 70s post-colonial India: warm textures, clean lines, muted earth tones, patterns that reference Indian textile traditions without being obvious about it. It feels contemporary and grounded at the same time.

For corporate dining, that matters because the space photographs well (your marketing team will appreciate the content), it's polished enough for client-facing events, and it's relaxed enough that your team doesn't feel stiff. It's one of the reasons San Ramon corporate groups keep rebooking. The 14-seat bar, the outdoor patio, and the main dining room each have a different energy, which gives you options depending on whether your event is a focused working lunch or a loose evening celebration.

We're on the second floor of City Center Bishop Ranch, near THE LOT Cinema and Alexander Square. That location means your guests can grab coffee beforehand, browse the shops, or catch a film after dinner. It turns a corporate meal into something that feels like an evening out, which your team appreciates more than you'd expect.

Booking, Pricing, and Logistics

Call (925) 359-6794 or email manager@wearekhaki.com. Share your date, approximate headcount, and whether you're thinking lunch or dinner. We'll respond within 24 hours with availability and a proposed menu.

From there, a dedicated event coordinator handles everything: menu selection, bar packages, seating layout, timeline, and any special requests. Most corporate events come together in two or three planning calls. You don't need to manage the details yourself.

Pricing runs per person, typically $75 to $150 depending on the menu tier and bar package. Lunch pricing starts lower than dinner. No separate room rental fee for the semi-private dining room. Full buyout pricing varies by date and guest count. A deposit holds your date.

For weekday corporate lunches and Tuesday-through-Thursday dinners, two to three weeks of notice is usually enough. Friday and Saturday evenings during Q4 fill up fast because every company at Bishop Ranch books holiday parties at the same time. If your San Ramon corporate event falls in October through December, start the conversation in September.

Parking is free at City Center Bishop Ranch. There's a large garage and surface lots, and we're walkable from the Bishop Ranch office parks. We're also accessible from San Ramon Transit Center for anyone connecting from Pleasanton, Dublin, or the wider Tri-Valley via BART.
